James Ruskin – Transfer (Kero Mix)
The always excellent James Ruskin returns with a limited Blueprint issue – here pitting himself against Detroit’s complex beat mangler Kero. The original version of ‘Transfer’ is a classic build-up tune, one of those tracks that always threatens to break into a heavy kick-drum session but that instead keeps the tension almost impossibly high with little relief – a squashed variation of the deep yet relentless Techno Surgeon and Regis have made their own, except with no alleviation. The Kero rework that spans the a-side feeds the whole thing through a meat grinder, ending up with a more complex modification that seems to play well at both speeds, nestling itself somewhere between classic Schematic-style Idm and shuffling techno. Kero and Tigerbeat hack Xanopticon deliver the final track, all hell breaking loose for an Otto-styled treck through cobbled percussive terrain. Limited copies only!

From Detroit/Windsor area is born another groundbreaking artist unwilling to settle for sounds of mediocrity and cliche so common in todays electronic music universe. Kero (AKA Sohail Azad) was brought up on the underground sound of Detroit/Windsor throughout the better part of the 90′s inspired by the unusual sonic landscapes and complex sequencing techniques, Kero developed a taste for the more experimental side of electronic music, bringing the sounds of Autechre, Aphex Twin and Richard Devine to the virgin ears of many young Detroiters armed with a talent for raw digital mayhem, Kero immersed himself in a constant production frenzy developing his unique signature sound, blending complex and experimental programming tactics with the more harsh and dark sonic sculpture of harder loop tek.
Along side his audio production Kero’s digital multimedia sensor activated video installations abd cutting edge print artwork has drawn attention from many, and made him one of the key multimedia desginers in the Detroit/Windsor underground (and we do mean deep …).
You can find Kero’s releases on German labels Bpitch Control, Shitkatapult, Sender Records and Detroit labels Lowres Records, Livewire Records, Ghostly International and Feed The Machine. Kero also remixed for the Metamatics on the English label Hydrogen Dukebox
